The Logie 6 timber frame home won
the prestigious Daily Telegraph Housing
Design
Award for traditional houses in 2009.
This Scots Baronial country mansion with 8
bedrooms, granny flat, large living room and
farmhouse kitchen, double height dining hall and
games room was designed to sit on the fabulous site
of an 18th century mansion on which access was from
the middle floor, In this new house this is by way
of an enclosed bridge which acts as a vestibule
with port-cochere at basement level for the service
entry. Its long frontage enabled us to ensure that
almost every room in the house faced the marvellous
views to South and West. The whole was completed
with a matching garage with service flat over. Both
have been carefully detailed to reflect country
houses of that era but with modern levels of the
sustainable environmentally-friendly needs of the
21st century.
